Cake Breakdown

So I did a few cake calculations and worked out how much our cake should cost, minus ribbon, stand, et cetera, i.e. for all the edible bits. The ingredients are laid out below. The calculation is based on using up a new packet/tin/jar/et cetera of each, although obviously this is an exaggeration, esp as only a few tbs of golden syrup are used! The alcohol, however, would set the whole budget out, so I’ve taken a fraction of that (although very generously).

Here is the low down…

Item . . . Cost (£)

Lemon curd . . . 0.22
18 eggs . . . 4.68
2 punnets of raspberries . . . 4.00
Raspberry jam . . . 0.84
Plain chocolate . . . 0.89
Nuts – pecans and flaked almonds . . . 2.12
SR Flour . . . 0.89
Syrup . . . 1.00
Lemons . . . 0.70
Sugar . . . 0.82
Vanilla . . . 1.04
Rollable icing . . . 1.37

Port . . . 5.50 / 3 . . . = . . . 1.83
Limoncello . . . 15.00 / 3 . . . = . . . 5.00
Rum . . . 10.30 / 7 . . . = . . . 1.47

TOTAL = £26.50.
